This adoption poem has an "unknown title", but I thought I would call it "A Second Adoption" for now.

If you decide that you would like a copy of this poem, but would rather give it a different title, contact me, and I'll send you another.

A Second Adoption

We said

We’re starting on a second adoption

They said

So soon?
Is that wise?

- but they didn’t know

you were waiting for us…

We said

This time we want a boy

They said

Girls are easier to raise

- but they didn’t know

you were waiting for us…

We said

We want a toddler

They said
It’s better to adopt an infant

- but they didn’t know

you were waiting for us…

They said

But how can you afford to?

We said

But how can we afford *not* to,

- since we know

you are waiting for us…

Now we need only find out who-

and where-

you are

So that you

and we

need wait no more.

---unknown
