Resources for Adoption
Loans and Grants

Many of us are looking for adoption loans so that we may adopt the child of our dreams.

There is a process that must be followed first and a fee must be charged in order to provide such services.

All fees will depend on the agency or even the country in which you adopt from. A private adoption can run any where from $5,000 to $40,000 or even more depending on travel, birthmother expenses etc. International adoptions can range from $7,000 to $30,000.

Stepparent and kinship adoptions are often not very costly at all , and adopting from foster care is the least expense, usually involving little or no costs.

Fees Included in The Process

First there is the application fee, and then the home study fee. When completing a home study, government processing costs will be included but usually are paid separate to the home study.

Other fees for adoption include a post adoption fees, fees for clients using foreign programs and other agencies, fees for the social worker’s court appearance, assistance with documents, legal fees, travel fees, and medical fees.

The prospective adoptive parents are responsible for all administrative fees, legal fees, travel, medical and any other expenses arising from the adoption process.

It is imperative that you discuss any and all adoption fees with an agency or adoption worker before entering into the process, you must be prepared financially when adopting.

Fees for adoption can seem outrageous, but for individuals who desperately want children, money isn’t an issue. People take out second mortgages on their homes, cash in on their retirement savings and take out personal loans to insure they have sufficient funds to pay their fees for adoption.

There are other resources available to help offset some of those costs as well. There are both adoption grants and adoption loans programs available for adoptive parents families who cannot afford the process.

Such programs may have specific requirements regarding the type of adoption, or they may give preference to families with the greatest financial need or with other specific characteristics.
