Taking Care of Your Babies Health

There are always concerns about your babies health. Many parents overreact to the smallest problem, but you really can't be too careful when it comes to the health of your baby. Recognizing the symptoms to the most common diseases is very important to early diagnosis and treatment.

Colicky Babies: Are typically healthy and full of energy. Even after extensive testing no medical causes have been found. There's clearly abdominal pain involved in most cases, and sometimes the baby just has gas.

You can learn more about colicky babies here.

Sticky Eyes: Very common in young babies. Usually there is no underlying infection, and simple salt-water washes are sufficient. Cotton wool soaked in saline should be used 2-3 times per day. The problem goes away in a few days, but can be recurring.

Conjunctivitis: In babies is caused by infections, which do require antibiotic treatment. The eye will usually be red and inflamed with pus, rather than simply sticky with yellow secretions. In this case you should see your doctor so the eye can be swabbed and appropriate antibiotics started.

Sore Throat or Pharingitis: Very common between the ages of 4-7 years old. Symptoms include pain while swallowing and eating, earache, and fever. Giving them soft food to eat and lots of fluids. Children should see a doctor if they have a fever too. Pharyngitis is caused by viruses and does not always require antibiotic treatment.

Strep Throat: Is common in kids and teens, it includes fever, stomach pain, and red, swollen tonsils. Strep throat usually requires treatment with antibiotics.

Tonsillitis: An inflammation of the tonsils caused by an infection, causes sore throat, fever, swollen glands in the neck, and trouble swallowing.

If your child is having to take anti-biotics often, meaning 3-4 consecutive times in one year. Then it may be time to ask your doctor to see a throat specialist.

That's what I ended up doing. After 2 years of complaining to my doctor, I asked him to refer my daughter to a throat specialist. The specialist discovered that she needed her tonsils removed ASAP. This ebook contains selected tips on how to take care of your babies health.
