What You Can Do to Help
with Baby Colic

Although baby colic is quite common, when it actually happens and your baby screams and cries without stopping, as a new mom you may become pretty frustrated.

Scientific research has given us many possible theories as to why colic occurs:

    1. Immature digestive system that an infant has, who is not used to processing food outside the mother's womb.

    2. Environmental factors like lactose intolerance

    3. Powder milk or cow's milk

    4. A nursing mother who consumes an allergen/chemical that contains food products not suited to her baby's sensitive digestive tract

    5. Even insufficient burping or gas build-up due to eating cruciferous foods or caffeine products by the mother.

However, it is certain that colic is uncomfortable for both the child and you, therefore adequate steps can be taken to rule out these sources of colic to bring down the statistics of 1 in every 10 infants suffering from it.

Steps You Can Take to Help
Your Colicy Baby

    1. Burp baby sufficiently during and after meals.

    2. Rock or walk with the baby to soothe them.

    3. Play soothing music to calm the baby or give them a pacifier.

    4. Even a warm castor oil massage on the tummy or rubbing the baby's tummy and back will help to stimulate bowel movement and reduce bloating to give comfort to the colicky baby.

All these steps will help your baby to pass gas and stool, which is the best way to give relief from stomach pain due to colic.
