What Does Becoming a
Foster Parent Mean to You?

Watching the kids light up when you can do just a simple activity with them, like going to the children’s museum, maybe providing some things they never got to do in their home before.


What would it or what does it mean for you to be a foster parent?

For me, being a foster parent has been so rewarding, especially when you know you are touching somebody’s life everyday and making a difference to them.

You are providing safety, modeling good behavior and showing them that life can be good. Especially when they come from homes where they maybe haven’t seen some of the better things in life and giving them hope and when they see it and they catch it. That’s what really brings me joy.

Once you have decided to become a foster parent, you will contact children’s services in your area. They will make arrangements to meet with you, this will likely be the beginning of your home study.

During this time they will ask you, “Why do you want to become a foster parent?” or “What does it mean to you to be a foster parent?

Have you given thought to this question? It’s important, fostering is a giant leap and will change your family dynamics, so don’t do it for the wrong reasons.
