From Adoption to Foster Parent

by Wendy
(US)

As a child growing up I was in long-term foster care with a loving family who eventually adopted me. My foster/adoptive family was stable, loving and nurturing when I was lost on life's path.

Maybe that is why I choose to become a foster parent as an adult. Something deep inside of me always wanted to parent children whether they were my own or foster children.

Fostering has not been without it's trials and tribulations. But there is nothing more rewarding than to have a child come to you with a smile and a hug, just because they are happy.

I think children give us more then we can ever give them.
