I am looking for a Birth Mother so that I can adopt

by Juanita
(California)

So far it has been really hard to try to find advise unless you want to get charged an arm and a leg. I want to adopt and I find it really hard out there to adopt without many zero's added to the bottom line. I feel as though people are trying to sell babies, and some birth mothers might not even though how much there little one is going for.
I just want some help to get started on a reasonable journey to find the birth mother for my baby.

Thank you and God Bless

California Department of Social Services

Hi Juanita,

I hope that I can help you some here. First, you might want to take a look at these articles.

http://www.child-adoption-matters.com/process-of-adoption.html
http://www.child-adoption-matters.com/adopting-requirements.html
http://www.child-adoption-matters.com/adoption-regulations.html
http://www.child-adoption-matters.com/adoption-home-study.html

After you have read these pages you will have a bit of an idea of what is expected of you. Then take a trip to your local California Department of Social Services. They should be able to help you with some free advise on adoption and you they will help you to adopt from foster care (no charge).

They will probably have an adoption waiting list that you can get onto. They may even advise you to foster first. Nothing will happen over night though. It may take months or even over a year. Unless you opt to adopt an older child or one with special needs, then things could go much more quickly, depending if you qualify.

In the meantime, while you are waiting you will be going through the entire adoption process. That in itself takes months.

This is really the only advise I can give to you for now. Because you are in a different country, your Social Services Department may be run differently and expectations/requirements may be different than ours.

Anyway, this is of course how we got our girls, ( you can read about that if you click on ?my family? link). I hope that you have the good luck that we did.

Once again, Good Luck!

Connie
